Join The Barn in Sanford in supporting the victims of Hurricane Milton Nov. 9, 2024
The Barn in Sanford has a great way for you to help the victims of Hurricane Milton. On November 9th we welcome up-and-coming country music sensation, Cory Smith. Proceeds from the evening will help the Red Cross to offer disaster relief to those in need.
Hurricane Milton has left a devastating impact across Florida, with over 17 confirmed fatalities and severe destruction in multiple counties. The storm brought catastrophic flooding, power outages affecting hundreds of thousands of homes, and multiple tornadoes, all of which contributed to the widespread damage. Urban Search and Rescue teams have been actively rescuing residents from flooded areas, and thousands of National Guard members have been mobilized to assist in recovery efforts. Over 426 people and 45 pets have been evacuated as water levels continue to rise in certain areas.
The impact of Hurricane Milton, in Seminole county and across the state, will be felt long-term as many lost their homes, businesses, and/or place of employment. The effects from Hurricane Milton continue to bring flooding in our rivers, and we are now seeing evidence of sinkhole activity brought on by the storm.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis described the storm’s impact as significant, saying, “Although Florida avoided the worst-case scenario, there is still considerable damage, particularly in flood-prone areas and where tornadoes touched down." With over 132 high-water rescue vehicles deployed and thousands of emergency personnel on the ground, the state is working around the clock to ensure people get the help they need.
In response, the American Red Cross is spearheading relief efforts, offering shelter, food, and medical aid to those displaced. This is an opportunity for us all to support the ongoing recovery and aid affected communities as our friends, family, neighbors and fellow Florida citizens begin to rebuild their lives.
The Barn’s doors open at 7 p.m. November 9th, 2024, for a night filled with the music of Corey Smith. Come join us as we party for a great cause.
